The ashiko drum is a tapered cone shape hand drum producing a crisp, dry slap, similar to a conga, and a deep open bass sound. Our ashikos come in 10” and 12” diameters with a 24” height, making them easily playable while seated. Shaw Percussion ashikos are fitted with a thick, strong water buffalo hide that provides both durability and a distinct tone that differentiates them from other hand drums. We use high-quality, low-stretch Kevlar rope specially designed for our hand drums to look attractive and keep your drum in tune.
